Every one of us is inquisitive to know the surprises the future holds. Astrology is considered one way to predict our future through the planetary positions in our birth chart. People living in different parts of India have different ways of charting the horoscope or Kundli.
As per Vedic astrology, predictions are based on twenty-seven stars and nine planets. There are many aspects in a horoscope, but the most important among them is lagna.
Lagna, or the ascendant, is the sign that appears on the eastern horizon at the time of birth of a person. Also called the janma lagna, this is the first house in your horoscope, and the position of the remaining planets is calculated starting from this.
Lagna signifies the self and gives insights into your behaviour, education, relationships, finances, etc. It is calculated based on your date, time, and place of birth. Lagna changes every two hours, so time is an important factor for predicting it.
The lagna chart or rasi chart is your birth chart. It shows the position of the ascendant and the planets in various signs. This is essential for predicting the future.
The lord of the first house is the lagna lord or the ruler of your horoscope. Every planet has a lord governing it, but the lagna lord governs the entire horoscope.
Some of the types of lagna are Arudha lagna, Indu lagna and Chandra lagna.
Arudha lagna shows how people perceive the individual. It is the reflection of the house and is calculated by counting the distance from the lord of the lagna.
It is known as the lagna of wealth and prosperity. It is used to analyze the financial position of the person. Indu lagna tells the specific period of life which will give prosperity to the individual. Indu means moon.
In Chandra lagna, the moon is the base for creating the horoscope or natal chart. It is equally important as the ascendant in astrology. Chandra lagna offers information on our traits since the moon can determine our mental state, peace, and happiness.
